Cala di Porto Vecchio, situated on the island of Giglio off Tuscany’s coast, offers a calm and scenic anchorage. The bay provides decent shelter from north west winds, but easterly winds can make conditions here challenging. The seabed mostly consists of sand and rocks, offering fair holding, though it’s wise to double check the anchor given the mixed terrain. Close by – a small, charming village – is reachable by tender and has a few shops and trattorias where you can find local Italian dishes.
