Portovenere’s Doria Castle and the Church of St Peter are the key sights at the headland. The short walk to Byron’s Grotto and the ferry hop to Palmaria add an easy extra.

1 Review on “Golfo di Venere”
The holding was good, with a mix of sand and patches of weed, so I made sure to check the anchor was well set. The water was calm when I stayed, providing a stable spot to rest. While there isn’t much swell, be mindful if the wind picks up; the open gulf can funnel some breezes through. There’s a beautiful stretch of coastline that’s quite scenic, but without the crowds, which was a welcome change after busier anchorages.
