With a sandy bottom, holding is generally reliable, though strong winds can whip through the area. The swells can also become significant, especially when the weather changes, so you’ll need to be cautious. The bay is wide and open so the surf can be rough. However, the view of the towering volcanic peaks in the distance and the palm-lined beach make it a picturesque spot if you don’t mind some exposure to the elements
