The bay itself is beautiful, with good sandy holding for anchoring. I was impressed by the clear water and the opportunities for snorkeling around the artificial reefs and shipwrecks. The marine life here is vibrant, making it a great spot for underwater exploration.
However, the experience can be marred by a few issues. During the day, the bay gets quite busy with dive boats and tour operators, which can make things feel a bit crowded and noisy. The local boat boys are persistent, and you’re expected to use their mooring balls, which come with a fee. I’ve had mixed experiences with the charges—sometimes it feels like you’re being pushed into paying more than expected.
Be cautious about the local practices and fees, and it might be wise to have a conversation with the coast guards if you feel you’re being overcharged. Overall, Anse Cochon is charming, especially for those who enjoy snorkeling.
