A well-loved anchorage with a natural beauty that appeals to sailors looking for a tranquil spot. The anchorage is moderately protected, with depths ranging from 4 to 8 meters and a sandy bottom mixed with patches of rock. It’s best to visit in calm conditions or when the wind is from the west, as easterly winds can make it less comfortable. The cove’s turquoise waters are remarkably clear, making it ideal for swimming and snorkeling. Cala Varques has a secluded feel, with scenic cliffs and caves nearby that are perfect for exploring by dinghy or kayak. However, there are no facilities or nearby services, so be prepared to bring all necessary supplies and provisions. In peak season, Cala Varques can get crowded with day-trippers, so arriving early in the day helps secure a good anchoring spot. The nearest town, Porto Cristo, is several kilometers away and offers provisions and basic amenities if needed.
