I recently went to Fethiye in Turkey. It was a Friday evening, and the heat was overwhelming.

The harbor master told me that customs were closed and suggested I anchor in the bay. Low on water and provisions, I decided to dock at the customs quay instead. It turns out the customs officers are there 24/7! 😉

With passports and crew list in hand, the customs agent took biometric photos and gave us a very warm welcome. The whole process took less than 40 minutes—just enough time to fill the water tanks.
