It’s said that Norman Island inspired Robert Louis Stevenson’s famous novel Treasure Island—a fitting association considering the island’s long-standing connection with pirate lore. Throughout the centuries, legends of buried treasure have tantalised sailors and adventurers, fueled by reports of troves of gold coins being found here in the 18th century.
