Hello, I’m looking for information on how to do clearance at Barbuda, or if it’s preferable to do it at Antigua. Do you have any anchorages to recommend in Barbuda? Thanks in advance.

Hello, Entry is apparently quite easy to Antigua. It would even be much cheaper at Jolly Harbour than at English Harbour… to verify! As for access to Barbuda, to the large and magnificent pink sand beach, no problem with Open CPN, there are about 2m more water than on the charts.

In Antigua, it’s best to avoid checking in (and maybe even out) at English Harbour because they charge the entrance fee for Nelson’s Dockyard at the same time, which is quite expensive. You can always say you arrived by bus after anchoring in a more remote bay, but since customs is inside the park, they might ask for your entry tickets… Otherwise, clearance costs the same everywhere on the island. In Barbuda, however, during the winter of 2023, it was free, but in theory, you’re supposed to request permission first.
