Hello, I’d like to know if it’s possible to anchor a sailboat in St. Barth, outside of the cyclone season, of course, and what the cost would be for a long-term stay. Thanks!

        Hello,
To be verified if it’s still true today: anchoring on your own anchor in Anse Corossol, north of Gustavia, is free?
A decent shelter outside of the cyclone season, of course.

Many mooring buoys are used year-round, and you’re asked to anchor behind them, which means quite a distance to the dock, often with strong winds.

For me, the welcome at the harbor office was excellent. The island is beautiful, but not within my budget. I stayed for three days.

Anse de Colombier, on St. Barts’ northwestern reach.

Decent holding in sand bottom, 20-30 feet deep. Sheltered from eastern trades but watch for northerly swells in winter months. No docks, no moorings. No road access means no engine noise or beach vendors hawking trinkets. Just sea, sand, and the occasional turtle for company. The old Rockefeller estate ruins stand as a reminder that even the wealthy eventually surrender to the sea.
